What actually fits in the slots?
The grids are wide enough for pot and pan lids, chopping boards, dinner plates and flat pans — which is why most people end up putting more in it than they planned to.
The one thing to check is a very chunky wooden board, so measure its thickness against the slot width if it's a big one.
Will it hold heavy pans?
It's built to take the weight of everyday cookware without bowing, which is the whole point of the vertical grid design — the load sits down through the frame rather than out across it.
Keep the heaviest item in an outer slot and it'll sit rock steady.
Cupboard or countertop?
Both, and people switch between them. In a cupboard it stops the lid avalanche; on the counter it works as a drying rack next to the sink and a lid stand while you're cooking.
